It is extremely important to know the reputation of the company marketing henna. Packages marked “henna” are misleading and can contain extremely harmful chemicals, like Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) and other synthetic ingredients.
Please note that the FDA has not approved henna for direct application to the skin. It is unconditionally approved as a hair dye, and can only be imported for that purpose.
