About Pure Indigo Powder for Darker Hair
Henna is the most widely used natural dye throughout the entire globe. However, Pure indigo is the second most powerful and widely used natural dye. When henna and indigo are properly combined together for hair coloring, the results are fantastic. This combination produces an array of shades from brown, dark brown, blue-black, purplish-black, natural black, to jet-black hair. The results may vary, depending upon the process, hair condition, percentage of gray and the ratio of pure henna and pure indigo in this process. The Indigo Plant
The word indigo has its origin from the Latin word 'Indicium' meaning blue dye from India. Indigofera Tinctoria is a sub-tropical plant that yields indigo. Since ancient times it’s been used by men and women to dye textiles and hair. As a hair dye, pure indigo is a green plant and the green leaves are dried, crushed and powdered. The dye is made from processing the plant’s leaves by soaking them in water and allowing them to ferment. This converts the natural glycoside indicant into the dye, indigotin. It can then be pressed into cakes, dried and powdered.
