Poor Diet
Without a diet that contains enough essential nutrients, your hair can become dry and lose its natural luster. Incorporate foods such as green veggies, legumes, eggs, and carrots into your diet for healthier locks that will be less prone to splitting.
Not Drinking Enough Water
If you are dehydrated, your hair is sure to be affected. The lack of moisture will lead to breakage and split ends. Try getting in the habit of drinking at least two liters of water per day.
Overuse of Styling Tools
Heat from tools such as irons and dryers can rob your hair of its moisture. Always use a heat protectant when you use these tools, or try to limit your use of them altogether.
Using Harmful Products/Treatments
Some hair products include harsh silicone-based gels that can cause your hair to dry out. While they may seem work magic on your hair initially, they can cause internal damage, thus resulting in split ends. By using only natural hair color, products, and treatments, you can avoid such adverse effects as you treat and maintain your hair.
